Colombia , with 1,876 species, has the largest number of bird types in the world. The region of El Chocó is a migratory corridor marked by two oceans and is a hotspot for bird fauna with about 800 species thus classifying as an IBA (Important Bird Area). The Harpy Eagle, the Black-tipped Cotinga, the Sun Bird and the Oropéndola of Baudó are some outstanding species. The country is thus considered an undiscovered paradise for ornithologists and bird watchers.
